Winemaking Notes: The Zweigelt and Pinot Noir grapes for this vintage of Nouveau made their way to the winery from Terrace Hill Vineyards in the Lake Michigan Shore AVA, located just 30 minutes south of Modales. The fruit was picked early to keep the acidity vibrant. Once in the winery, the fruit was transferred whole cluster to a stainless- steel tank gassed with Co2 to kick-start the 6-day session of carbonic maceration. Fresh off of carbonic maceration to press where the juice saw limited extraction and was fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel at low temperatures to preserve the fragrant aromatics. This wine was bottled without a single sprinkle of added sulfites.

Tasting Notes: So, what’s the consensus of this year’s Modales Nouveau? It’s fruity and bright with flavors of tart raspberry, candied cherry and roasted beets. It's a true party in the glass.
