Tasting Notes: The Modales Roth Jr. Riesling is an off-dry Riesling with an exciting acid-bomb aftertaste. It is mineral and briney and then gets fruitier in the glass as it opens. This is a balanced and beautiful Riesling with lots of fruit. Pair it with blue cheese or Pad Thai.

Terroir Notes: Leelanau Peninsula is 30 miles long and surrounded on three sides by water (Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay). Its AVA status occurred in 1982, making it the 10th AVA in the nation at the time. The rolling hills with sandy loam soils were formed by glaciers. This cool climate region located at the 45th parallel is ideal for growing Riesling. The lake and bay moderate the summer heat and winter cold; this allows the Riesling to ripen slowly and develop deep aromatic character while maintaining bright acidity.
