Vineyard Notes: Casanova dell'Aia is the historical vineyard of the Fronti family. It was the first parcel the family purchased in the 1980s. It has been renovated in 2014 and 2018 and is 3.8 hectares. Harvest is manual.

Winemaking Notes: Alcoholic fermentation lasts between 15-20 days in concrete tanks at a controlled temperature. Maceration lasts for 45 days. The wine ages for 15 months in 30hl Austrian oak with minimal intervention. It then rests in bottle at the winery for 18 months before release.

    The 2022 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Casanova dell'Aia is redolent of dried herbs, menthol, sage, tobacco, white pepper, mint and scorched earth. Linear in its contours and yet deep, the Casanova dell'Aia is a super-expressive wine from Radda. In this tasting, it is a standout. The site clearly handled the rigors of the growing season well. Bright saline overtones extend the palate-staining, explosive finish. The Casanova dell'Aia is not as immediate as some of the other Gran Seleziones in the range, but it bristles with character.
