Terroir Notes: Only the best grapes exclusively from the Istine Vineyard go into this wine. Istine Vineyard is located in Radda in Chianti, near the border with Castellina in Chianti, one of the highest vineyards in the Chianti area, planted in 2002. Harvest is manual.

Fermentation: 15 to 20 days in concrete tanks at a controlled temperature

Skin Maceration: Approximately 45 days with submerged cap in concrete tanks

Aging: 15 months in 30 hl Austrian oak barrels, followed by approximately 18 months of bottle aging

    The 2022 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Istine is the most reticent of these three Gran Seleziones. Even so, the Vigna Istine impresses with its notable energy and tension. Dark red fruit, white pepper, chalk, mint and dried flowers open in the glass. Today, the Istine feels rather compact and nervy, but it certainly has a ton of character.
