Winemaker Notes: "Yes, I know. It’s time, RG, to grow up, to put aside childish things and move on with your life. As I’ve said before, this little Pinot project is more than a little self-indulgent, kind of like the red Corvette in the driveway of the middle-aged dude. The irony of course is that utter folly (and 20,000 vines/ha, to be sure, is total folly) sometimes in fact, works out well.

As has been our habit, we air-dry the fruit for 3 days and then gently foot-tread the entire cluster (with stems.)

This Pinot se pinot, in Kermit Lynchian parlance; it shows both its varietal colors (in this instance, the unmistakable quality of beetroot, earth and black fruit (and black truffle). With additional time in the glass, the wine displays the kaleidoscopic genius that Pinot uniquely provides." - Randall Graham

Terroir Notes: The small Pinot Noir plot consists of hyper-densely planted (20,000 vines/ha.), ungrafted vines. It is a north-facing block that is planted to a diverse variety of Pinot Noir clones. The plot is located at a slightly higher elevation on the estate, well protected from the wind and surrounded by woodland.
