Vintage Notes: 2023 was a challenging vintage for much of California. Oddly enough, the phenomenon of global warming, while affecting most of the planet, seemed at least vis-à-vis San Juan Bautista, to have largely taken some time off in the 2023 growing season. Thus, an exceptionally cool and late vintage; the Popelouchum small and dedicated crew worked hard - mostly thinning and more thinning - to get to the ripeness finish line.

The resulting 2023 Popelouchum Blanc is sleek and lean. It is really not for acidophobes. It is breathtakingly elegant and fine, with great length and persistence. Creamy, hazelnut and musky pear goodness with a steel spine, this wine will handsomely repay cellaring; it will scratch the Burgundian itch.

Terroir: The climate of Popelouchum very closely resembles that of the Roussillon, which is windy and rather cool in the evening.
