Winemaker Notes: "We did things a little bit differently from the preceding vintage with the 2022 Popelouchum Blanc, picking the grapes a little bit riper and crushing the grapes (Gris and Blanc) together in the press, electing to allow approximately 2 hours of skin contact before pressing.

As with the 2021 vintage, the wine was barrel fermented in neutral cooperage, allowed—nay, encouraged—to complete malolactic fermentation and to rest on its fermentation lees until bottled (without filtration).

The ‘22 is considerably softer and plusher than the ‘21, somewhat more Citroën-like than, say, Alfa-Romean." - Randall Graham

Terroir: The climate of Popelouchum very closely resembles that of the Roussillon, which is windy and rather cool in the evening.

Given two hours of skin contact, the trick in making the 2022 Grenache Blanc Grenache Gris Popelouchum Vineyard Estate (54% Grenache Gris, 46% Grenache Blanc) was taming the acidity, so winemaker Randall Grahm picked the grapes a little riper than usual. Medium-bodied, it has a lush mouthfeel and is crowd-pleasing in its restrained richness and well-defined, salinity-laden flavors of ripe pear. Drink now-2030.
