Holmes Cay Réunion Island Rum Traditionnel is produced at Distillerie de Savanna on Réunion Island, the French department in the Indian Ocean. Made from locally sourced cane molasses, this traditional French-style molasses rum is distilled on a stainless steel column still and aged for three years in ex-Cognac casks under tropical conditions before being bottled in New York at 46% ABV.

A Historic Style Reintroduced: Rum Traditionnel, the classic French-style molasses rum, was once an essential ingredient in the golden age of tiki cocktails. Many historic recipes simply called for "Martinique rum," referring to the island's then-common molasses-based style. As Martinique's rum industry shifted almost entirely to producing rhum agricole from fresh cane juice, the original flavor profile of those classic cocktails changed. Fortunately, Réunion Island has continued the tradition of producing French-style molasses rum. By bringing Rum Traditionnel to the U.S., Holmes Cay reintroduces this historic style, offering an authentic option for both classic tiki recipes and modern cocktails.

Tasting Notes: Aromas of cola lead to a palate layered with rich vanilla, bright citrus, warming cinnamon, and nutmeg. The finish is light, dry, and remarkably balanced.
