Vineyard Notes: This Weissburgunder (also known as Pinot Blanc) comes from the west facing In der Lamm Vineyard which sits at 500 meters in elevation and is composed of glacial moraine volcanic porphyry and quartz. This is a rich and openly expressive Weissburgunder. The vines are 60 years old and pergola trained.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes are manually harvested and gently pressed. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in old 500-liter barrels. After malolactic fermentation, the wine spends an additional 9 months on its lees before moving to stainless for natural settling over 6+ months.
Tasting Notes: The complex bouquet is reminiscent of ripe fruit such as apple, pear, and lemon, combined with a slightly earthy component derived from the mineral soil. The wine is full-bodied and creamy on the palate. It impresses with a salty, lingering fruity finish. Pair with Mediterranean dishes, seafood, white meat, and aromatic cheeses.
