Bea produces perhaps his most hallowed wine from pure Sagrantino grown on the hilltop site of Pagliaro, situated at nearly 400 meters above sea level in Montefalco proper. Bea’s wines at their best offer a panoply of spices so complex and evocative as to nearly defy belief, plus an irresistible sense of exuberant wildness that speaks both to Sagrantino’s ferocity and to the trusting low-interventionism of Bea’s methodology. The gloriously intense yet balanced 2019 spent 31 days on its skins, with a natural alcohol level of 15%.
