Ver Sacrum 2021 'Dona Mencia' Mencia, Los Chacayes

Vineyard Notes: Grapes come from a single 0.4 hectare plot within the estate vineyard in the Los Chacayes IG inside the Uco Valley. This plot was planted in 2011 and is located at 2,800 feet above sea level.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are harvested by hand and macerate for 6 days in 400-liter open top bins before fermenting with native yeast and aging for 24 months on the lees in 225-liter used French oak barrels. The wine is then bottled unfiltered.

"The 2020 Dona Mencia de Los Andes is sourced from Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley and was aged for 18 months in used French oak barrels. A purplish ruby in the glass. The reductive nose offers distinctive notes of blood accompanied by rose petals, pomegranate, elderberry and damp earth. It's lean and dry with delicate, savory flavors and a finely-grained, taut mouthfeel. The 2020 is more profound compared to previous vintages despite the warm year."
