Winemaking Notes: The grapes are manually harvested. The bunches are destemmed and transferred to stainless steel for spontaneous fermentation that lasts about 10-15 days. After primary fermentation, the grapes are gently pressed in a hydraulic press (basket press) and transferred to stainless steel to age for 6 months on fine lees. Malolactic fermentation occurs. The wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with low sulfites.

Tasting Notes: The Cirelli Montepulciano is deliciously fresh with bright red fruit. The palate is soft, round, and full-bodied. Best enjoyed with spicy salami, pasta dishes, pizza, red meats and semi-cured cheeses.

The 2022 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo opens in the glass with a darkly floral blend of wilted violets and dried blackberries. This is soothingly round and silken in feel with ripe red and black fruits that sweep across a stream of fresh acidity. Lavender traces form toward the close. It finishes with admirable length and concentration, leaving echoes of licorice and spice over a bed of fine-grained tannins.
