Vineyard Notes: Made entirely from Art Den Hoed’s vineyard in the lower Yakima Valley, this site is unique for its elevation of 1,300 feet, making it one of the cooler vineyards in the area with excellent air drainage. Sourced from two blocks of Viognier, the older planted in 2000 and the newest planted in 2006.

Winemaking Notes: 3 tons per acre. Whole cluster pressed in 50% Neutral demi-muid, 50% concrete tank. 5 months aged on lees in demi-muid. Bottled from gross lees, unfined and unfiltered. Vegan friendly.

Farming Notes: All vineyards are sustainably farmed, following biodynamic and organic principles. Zero pesticides, zero herbicides and zero adjuncts are used. Harvest is manual.

Tasting Notes: Brilliant exotic and appealing ripe peach and fresh picked apricot on a warm sunny day. Honeysuckle and a touch of tangerine envelope the senses, crushed slate, wisteria, and a gifted white rose entangle, enchant, and linger. This Viognier is so beautiful and so noble.

    Rating: 92 (10/23/2025)

The 2024 Viognier Art Den Hoed is savory and perfumed, with nuances of fresh ginger and sour melon creating its pure bouquet. It opens with a balanced inner sweetness and vividly ripe melon tones elevated by a tinge of confectionery spice. Subtly tropical yet beautifully balanced, it leaves a distinctly salty flourish to liner.

The 2024 Viognier Art Den Hoed is a great representation of the variety in the state in the right hands. It’s creamy, luscious, and yet also completely fresh and full of verve. Light-bodied, it shows snappy layers of apple, pear, and honeycomb, with 6-8 years of aging potential to boot, if not more.
