Aging: 9 months in neutral French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation on its lees. Racked once. Bottled without fining or filtration.

Tasting Notes: The Marland Cabernet Franc is more Loire in flavor than ripe Napa. Intentionally vinified to belie its youthful character, this wine is perfumed, charming and precocious. Enjoy aromas of raspberry, red rose and wet clay. The palate displays raspberry, redcurrant, and a note of sweet red bell pepper on a sleek medium-bodied frame. It is best served at cellar temperature.

Food Pairing: Serve cool with charcuterie, grilled chicken thighs with a side of grilled sweet red peppers and onions, pizza, and liver pates on baguette. It also is delicious with cheesy pasta dishes and can go with nearly everything a Chianti would complement.

About the Name: Marland means "land near the lake" in Old English.
