Winemaking Notes: This wine is a blend of 60% Traminer Aromatico (Gewürztraminer), 30% Chardonnay, and 10% Moscato Bianco from the estate vineyard. Fermentation and aging occurs in stainless steel tanks for one year. The wine is bottled unfiltered.

Tasting Notes: The nose is actually more subdued then one would think having such aromatic grapes but still has ripe notes of lemon zest, white peach, and green apple all woven together with white flowers, baking flour, and yellow chartreuse. The palate shows medium viscosity with crisp acidity and the wine finishes with notes of candied peach and fresh sliced lemons.

Terroir Notes: Almost half of Uruguay's population lives in Montevideo, so it is no surprise that roughly 80% of Uruguay's vineyards are planted near the capital city. Immigrant families brought a wide variety of grapes and planted them on the rich clay soils. The climate is mild with warm summers and cool winters, but nothing too extreme. The Atlantic Ocean influence is an important factor in Canelones as the coastal winds provide ventilation and reduce humidity/risk of rot. Strictly part of Canelones, Atlántida is sandwiched between Montevideo and Maldonado on the coast. This is a small subregion that has coastal breezes and cooler temperatures than Canelones. You will find a mixture of varieties and the area is suited equally to both white and red.

A lovely wine in its fruity and floral aromas, with a hint of sweetness toward the finish that contrasts with the firm and juicy acidity that accompanies the wine all the way through the palate. It's dense and full of flavors of ripe white fruit and creamy texture. Estival's first vintage was the 2004, and it has followed a similar formula ever since. The Chardonnay was harvested very early, as if the fruit were destined for a sparkling wine, to give the wine its nerve, while the Gewürztraminer and Moscato were harvested very late to provide a creaminess and the fruitier side.
