Vineyard Notes: Graziano produces Valpolicella and Amarone from a vineyard that he purchased and planted in 2001. La Morandina is on the high slopes of the Mezzane Valley. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes are planted in calcareous soils of glacial origin. The limestone and surface marl fossils produce wines of finesse and elegance. Cool breezes from the Lessini Mountains guarantee big ventilation and slow ripening of the grapes. 2006 was the first production year for this vineyard.

Winemaking Notes: There is a light drying period of 20 days. The grapes are destemmed, pressed, and vinified with the delestage method (rack and return). Alcohol fermentation is followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. Then the wine is moved to large 20-hectoliter oak casks where it will age for 3-6 months before bottling.

Tasting Notes: This wine smells incredible. It has a spice rack of aromas combined with fresh berries and minerals. The palate is elegant and fresh with complex flavors and persistent tannins. There is restraint in a good way. Black pepper and currant linger on the finish. Pair with charcuterie, tuna, salmon, fresh dishes, or spices like chili.

About the Label: The unicorn is a symbol of purity. This label was found in an old Russian book in the Verona library.
