Winemaking Notes: The first selection of grapes are manually harvested and placed on wooden plateaux to dry for 2-3 months over winter. Then, the grapes are destemmed, pressed, and vinified with delestage (racking) for 15 days in stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation occurs. The wine matures for 2 years in 30% barrique and 70% tonneaux. It is transferred to large, 20-hectare Allier oak casks for further aging. The Amarone wine is bottled and matures for one year before release.

Tasting Notes: Intense and complex aromas pop from the glass: cherry, plum, licorice, and cocoa. The smooth palate shows power as well as elegance. It is not the typical dark and drying Amarone. It has freshness thanks to the altitude of the vineyard and the high chalk composition in the marl soil. Pair the Prà Amarone with meat, especially if flavored with spices and aromatic herbs. The wine also works well with mature cheese, particularly Parmigiano Reggiano.

About the Label: The Italian Tiro Pesante Rapido horse on the label symbolizes the combination of power and elegance that characterizes this wine.

A chewy red enlivened by a tang of balsamico acidity, delivering dried cranberry and raspberry fruit, mace and orange zest flavors underscored by hints of cured tobacco, smoke and fresh earth. Sleek and sculpted, with a lingering, aromatic finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. Drink now through 2034.

The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Morandina is youthfully coy, slowly evolving with a delicate blend of dusty rose, stone dust and dried strawberries. This displays fantastic balance, cooling and crisp, with silken textures and depths of red and black fruits that slowly saturate. Crunchy tannins resonate as the 2017 tapers off dramatically long and staining, leaving a pleasantly bitter twang and saline minerals to linger on.
