Winemakers' Notes: "We’ve been farming this vineyard since 2017, and each year the wines get better and better as we slowly work to restore and rehabilitate this historic vineyard site. The super shallow volcanic soils give this wine a lot of density without being overbearing. Merlot is perfectly suited to the soils in Coombsville, and this is an example of it at its best." - Shaunt & Diego
How Coombsville Became the Coolest Hot Spot in Napa Valley - Robb Report May, 2022
Tasting Notes: Napa’s potential to make a more refined and restrained style of wine is on display here. The volcanic soils bring structure to the wine, while the varietal character of Merlot shines through to give suppleness and body on the midpalate. Plenty of bright red fruit is balanced with intense minerality.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, 100% destemmed by hand, and fermented at cool temperatures for 16 days. The wine is pressed at dryness and is aged for 10 months in barrel at which point the wine is racked off the fine lees and blended and allowed to age another 12 months before bottling without fining or filtering.
