Les Lunes Wine 2023 'Astral' Red Blend, California

Vineyard Notes:
-Bruce & White Perry Vineyard, Sonoma Valley, 40 year old Zinfandel on chalky volcanic soils
-Cuatro Esquinas Vineyard, Sonoma Valley, 25 year old Syrah on loamy valley soils
-Bottage Vineyard, Los Carneros, 20 year old Pinot Noir on Carneros alluvial deposits
-Lolonis Vineyard, Redwood Valley, 50 year old Chardonnay on ancient gravelly loam riverbed

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are all hand harvested. Zinfandel undergoes carbonic maceration, Syrah is direct-pressed as a rose, Pinot Noir sees a short maceration, and the Chardonnay is also direct-pressed. All varietals are fermented separately and aged in stainless steel and HDPE tanks. The wine is finally blended prior to bottling in July 2024 with just 25 ppm SO2.

Tasting Notes: Bright cherry fruit with lots of clarity and fresh acid. The Pinot Noir brings a nice earthiness to balance the fruit. Serve with a light chill and enjoy in copious volumes.
