Fidencio Spirits
Fidencio Spirits was founded in 2007 by Amy Hardy and Arik Torren, driven by a shared vision to bring the essence of Mexican spirits to the United States. Their journey began that summer when they met Enrique Jiménez, a talented fourth generation mezcalero at his family’s palenque, Del Amigo. By 2009, Amy, Arik, and Enrique launched Fidencio Mezcal, showcasing the rich traditions of mezcal to the U.S. market.
At the time, mezcal was still a relatively unknown category in the United States. Unbeknownst to Amy and Arik, their venture would grow to become a pivotal force in introducing and building categories of traditional Mexican spirits in the U.S. Fidencio Mezcal helped highlight mezcal’s unparalleled diversity in flavor, terroir, heritage, and craftsmanship, making it a key contributor to the spirit’s rising popularity.
A significant milestone came in 2012 when Fidencio Spirits collaborated with La Venenosa to introduce the first raicilla to the U.S. market. This partnership marked the company’s transformation into Fidencio Spirits Import Company, establishing them as a leading importer and advocate for traditional Mexican spirits. Shortly after, Fidencio expanded its portfolio to include La Higuera, a sotol producer from Chihuahua renowned for crafting some of the most inspiring sotols available in the U.S.
Through fostering relationships with passionate producers and celebrating the extraordinary diversity of Mexican spirits, Fidencio Spirits Import Company remains at the forefront of this cultural and culinary renaissance. Their dedication continues to drive the growth and appreciation of traditional Mexican spirits across the U.S.
In 2023, Arik transitioned from Fidencio to pursue a new venture, Lot 001. Today, Kristina Greene leads Fidencio Spirits’ business operations in the U.S., continuing the mission to honor and promote Mexico’s rich spirits tradition.
