The Origin of Woody’s
Woody’s was born at a backyard barbecue. Fresh off stepping away from Haus, the aperitif brand he co-founded, Woody Hambrecht found himself in conversation with Justin Kan, an entrepreneur and nightlife regular who loved food and connection but no longer drank. As the party swirled with wine and cocktails, Justin stood with yet another bottle of water, wishing for something better—something that carried the same sense of intention and celebration without alcohol.

Woody and Justin got to talking. What if non-alcoholic wine didn’t feel like an afterthought? What if it had the depth, character, and ritual of the real thing, without the compromise?

Their conversation sparked the idea for Woody’s: non-alcoholic wine that doesn’t just fill a gap but elevates the entire experience. Made with intention, grounded in decades of winemaking heritage, and built for a modern, more mindful drinker, Woody’s is about more than what’s in the glass. It is about being present at the table, on the dance floor, or anywhere worth celebrating, without ever feeling left out.

California Roots, Modern Vision
Woody Hambrecht is a third‑generation winemaker and organic farmer carrying forward a California wine legacy launched by his grandparents, Bill and Sally Hambrecht, in the 1970s. The Hambrecht family helped shape Northern California’s early wine scene, contributing to iconic labels such as Ridge, Chalone, Gary Farrell, and Belvedere while planting and developing vineyards across Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

Today, Woody stewards the family’s CCOF‑certified organic Grist Vineyard in Healdsburg, cultivating old vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc for acclaimed producers including Martha Stoumen, Ruth Lewandowski Wines, Kirk Venge, and Ehren Jordan. The property also hosts a diversified farm where Woody raises pigs and chickens and maintains organic gardens and orchards that supply top local restaurants, among them Healdsburg’s three‑Michelin‑starred SingleThread.

Woody’s expertise extends beyond traditional winemaking. He co‑founded Haus, the modern aperitif brand that paired California wine with craft spirits in a pioneering direct‑to‑consumer model. His current projects include Woody’s, a non‑alcoholic wine line tailored to the mindful‑drinking movement, and Ami Ami, a boxed‑wine label offering high‑quality French wines in a sustainable, approachable format. Both projects reflect his enduring commitment to thoughtful farming, accessible wine, and reimagining how people connect over what’s in their glass.
