The Han is a Korean sool producer dedicated entirely to maesil, the fruit commonly known as Korean green plum.

Although maesil is most familiar in its firm, bright-green stage, The Han allows the fruit to ripen further, until its skin develops a reddish-gold color. As maesil ripens, its character changes dramatically. Floral and tropical fruit aromatics intensify, natural sweetness develops, and the fruit retains the vivid acidity that makes it so distinctive. Such intensely ripe plums are so delicate and fragile that it is impossible to make them widely available commercially.

The Han has a unique advantage. Its maesil comes directly from the family’s own orchard. With control over the harvest, the fruit can remain on the tree until peak ripeness. This allows The Han to capture the remarkable aromatic intensity, depth, and freshness of fully ripened maesil and place the character of the fruit at the center of every bottle.

The Han specializes in maesilju, Korea’s traditional plum liqueur, using 100% high-quality maesil. The ripe fruit is macerated in neutral cane spirit. Local honey from Jeju Island is added for a subtle sweetness that complements the maesil while preserving its vivid fruit and acidity.
