In 1986, Paolo Melis and Enrico Diana founded Bresca Dorada in the rugged inland countryside of southeastern Sardinia, near Muravera. Originally from the city of Cagliari, the duo met during a beekeeping course. They began their venture with honey and other bee-related products before gaining recognition for their homemade Mirto Rosso di Sardegna, which includes a small percentage of their honey. Today, they also produce a green Mirto from myrtle leaves as well as liqueurs, gin, and amaro, all crafted from local ingredients in an environmentally friendly facility.

Bresca Dorada derives its name from two Sardinian words: "bresca," meaning honeycomb, and "dorada," meaning golden, the color of honey. The farm spans 6.5 hectares in the picturesque Sarrabus territory, nestled between the sea and the mountains. Myrtle, lentisk, cistus, arbutus strawberry trees, and native Mediterranean maquis thrive on their land. Everything they produce comes from Sardinia, either on their property or wild, and is crafted on-site.

Myrtle, an evergreen bush native to the Mediterranean, grows profusely on the sister islands of Sardinia and Corsica. In Roman times, myrtle was sacred to Venus and symbolized glory, prosperity, and eternal love. Myrtle flowers were often used in wedding banquets as a sign of good fortune. Expert pickers hand-harvest only the best and ripest berries, which are then soaked for several months in alcohol. This infusion forms the vibrant heart of Bresca Dorada's most successful liqueur: Mirto Rosso di Sardegna.

All Bresca Dorada spirits and liqueurs are additive free: no added flavoring, coloring or stabilizers.
