Big Table Farm is the collaborative effort of husband and wife team Brian Marcy, winemaker, and Clare Carver, artist. Their goal is to "grow and produce what we love to eat and drink." In 2006, the couple moved to Oregon from Napa, purchased their estate, and set out to make their dream a reality. Today, they own and manage 70 acres in the northern Willamette Valley, just outside of the tiny town of Gaston, where they raise animals and produce seasonal vegetables. If you visit them, you'll find free-range hens, pasture-raised pigs, grass-fed cows, goats, bee hives, and more. They have planted 6 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a tiny bit of Pinot Gris. The plan is to plant 6 more acres for a total of 12 acres of vines. Solar panels have been installed to provide renewable energy. Brian and Clare have built a healthy, sustainable, and diverse farm.

More about Brian Marcy: Brian worked his first harvest in 1996. Having studied fermentation science at Davis, he took to the process of winemaking easily and loved it. While working in Napa Valley, Brian learned from some of California's most esteemed winemakers and wineries: Turley Wine cellars, Neyers Vineyards, Blankiet Estate and Marcassin, just to name a few. Brian also spent a harvest working in Australia at Trevor Jones Fine Wines. These varied experiences have contributed to Brian’s ability to optimize each vintage.

More about Clare Carver: In addition to partnering with Brian to market the wine and manage their 70 acres, Clare is also a painter and wine label designer. Her fine art speaks for itself and her wine labels have received multiple awards, including America's top ten wine labels (S.F. Chronicle). Clare's first passion is her painting, but she finds great joy in working with her team of draft horses.

  • Big Table Farm 2022 Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley
    Jeb Dunnuck
    Rating: 90 (8/6/2024)

Displaying a medium red color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is spicy and herbal on the nose, with notes of cherry lozenge, alpine herbs, and spiced orange. Medium-bodied and approachable, with fine tannins, an elegant, juicy feel, even, ripe acidity, and a clean finish, it’s quite charming now and will drink well over the next several years. Drink 2024-2030.
  • Big Table Farm 2023 'Laughing Pig' Pinot Noir Rose, Willamette Valley
    Jeb Dunnuck
    Rating: 88 (8/6/2024)

A bright pink color, the 2023 Laughing Pig Rose is entirely Pinot Noir and is expressive with aromas of orange zest, ripe berries, fresh flowers, and fresh herbs. Juicy and medium-bodied, it fills the palate with ripe, melony fruit and a juicy, long finish. It is going to be best enjoyed over the next couple years.
  • Big Table Farm 2022 'Sunnyside' Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley
    The Wine Spectator
    Rating: 92 (4/30/2025)

An elegantly structured version, with sleek cherry and strawberry flavors that take on forest floor and dusky spice accents as this persists toward slightly firm tannins. Drink now through 2032.

  • Big Table Farm 2022 'Sunnyside' Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley
    Decanter
    Rating: 95 (9/17/2024)

From the Sunnyside Vineyard and riper in style for BTF (it remains under 14%), this wine shows opulence that retains its savoury, mineral edge: richly turned soils, dried violets and ripe cherry flesh aromatics. The palate shows real oompf, but it's lifted by notes of rooibos, dried anise and a vibrant, savoury streak of smoky sea salt and dried thyme. The finish leans into clove, ripe strawberries and dried mint leaves.

Polished and handsomely structured, with expressive raspberry and tart cherry flavors as this builds complexity and richness.

Supple and elegantly complex, with delicate raspberry and cherry flavors laced with rose petal, orange peel and dusky spices as this glides toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2033.
