Winemaking Notes: The 2022 Willamette Valley Pinot noir is, as always, comprised of all the vineyards that Big Table Farm works with. Each plot is treated with equal diligence and, as Brian says, "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts." The wines are 100% whole cluster, fermented with whatever yeast blows in the door and nurtured to dryness and perfect extraction with a combination of foot trodding and pumpovers, and a gentle press. It is then put into barrel with a combination of mostly old oak and some new oak and then stirred and topped weekly until the malolactic conversion is complete. The wine is bottled after 10 months in barrel without any fining or filtration.

Tasting Notes: This wine unfolds its tale with an aromatic prelude of dried roses, coriander and muddled raspberry. Venture deeper into the glass and the story darkens, revealing a core of a forest at dusk. Candied bacon, anise, strawberry, and guava parade across the palate with a savory sweetness.

Displaying a medium red color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is spicy and herbal on the nose, with notes of cherry lozenge, alpine herbs, and spiced orange. Medium-bodied and approachable, with fine tannins, an elegant, juicy feel, even, ripe acidity, and a clean finish, it’s quite charming now and will drink well over the next several years. Drink 2024-2030.
