Ruth Lewandowski Wines NV 'Anos' Lot 2, Fox Hill Vineyard, Mendocino County

Anos is a multi-vintage blend conceived from merely noticing that three stacks of barrels all in line containing wine from grapes ending in "-ano". This serendipitous event inspired Evan to create the blend right then and there.

Vineyard Notes: The Montepulciano comes from a west facing slope that are head trained bush vines. While the Friulano and Trebbiano come from a gentle south facing slope with can pruned vines.

Winemaking Notes: Lot 2 is roughly a third each of Friulano, Montepulciano and Trebbiano. There are very tiny additons of Wente Chardonnya, Musque clone Sauvignon Blanc and the tiniest splash of Brachetto.

Each varietal is vinified separately. Montepulciano was whole cluster, bladder pressed ot stainless steel; Trebbiano was destemmed and macerated for the duration of the ferment; Friulano was fermented both as direct press and as skin contact. Prior to bottling, a small amount of Montepulciano fermented as a carbonic red was blended in for a bit more texture and color.

Each variety aged in polyethylene and neutral barrique. Long on lees, one racking prior to blending / bottling in the spring. Unfined and unfiltered.
