Tasting Notes: A pretty and inviting light within a dark night explodes into wild strawberries, dark cherry, and candle wax. Translucent and desirable, it lingers with black plum, tea leaf, and dried black rose coveted in an old hardback book…it is truly a precious, finely focused taste of Barbera.
Vineyard Notes: Loamy, fine sand over silica limestone, these ancient soils above the Missoula Flood plain (never touched by the floods) are some of the best to grow fruit. This site is higher elevation and has cooler evenings, which creates later ripening, lots of minerality, and concentration. A hidden gem!
Farming Notes: All vineyards are sustainably farmed, following biodynamic and organic principles. Zero pesticides, zero herbicides and zero adjuncts are used. Harvest is manual.
Winemaking Notes: 2.9 tons per acre. Pressed in a basket press. 100% whole berry fermentation in stainless steel with 35 days on skins. 10 months aged on lees in 100% neutral French oak puncheons. Bottled from gross lees, unfined and unfiltered. Vegan friendly.
