With each vintage, the Scribe team's understanding of the Estate’s terroir evolves – they learn the nuances of different blocks, clones and farming practices, and how these maturing vines are settling into their distinct character. The inaugural bottling of the Sonoma Valley Pinot Noir is a testament to this educational journey.

These blocks are situated on the lower slopes, nestled at the entrance to the Scribe Estate. The soil here among the stone walls is heavier and richer in organic matter – cooler, and more forgiving than our hillside blocks. You can taste this gentler terroir in the wine – softer and more fruit-driven, with satisfying density and easy-going richness alongside the characteristic volcanic energy and vibrancy for which Scribe is known.

Vintage Notes: 2024 was a second consecutive wet winter allowed the vines to begin the year replenished and ready for an active growing season. Sonoma had temperate weather throughout spring, allowing the vine canopy to grow steadily. Late Spring and mid-summer heat events slowed down cluster growth and focused the canopies on fruit ripening. These growing season heat events resulted in smaller berry sizes and more concentrated fruit development. Harvest began on August 21st, later than initially expected, as they welcomed a cool lead-up to harvest. Once harvest began, sustained warm summer weather facilitated continual ripening until harvest finished on October 3rd.

Vineyard Notes: Scribe Estate, Johanna Vineyard, Brooklime Vineyard and Los Chamizal Vineyard.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes were hand harvested and harvest took place on September 3rd and 6th, 2024. Native yeast fermented with 25% whole cluster inclusion. Aged in neutral French oak barrels for 7 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes: Huckleberry / Almond / Rose Petal
