Vintage Notes: A dry winter with below-average rainfall and a cool start to spring kept the vines dormant late into March. The spring months stayed dry and cool, slowing shoot growth, and contributing to low yields and small berries. Once under full canopy later in the season, the fruit developed evenly with concentrated flavor, color and texture. Harvest began on August 13th with favorable, temperate weather throughout the picking season.
Vineyard Notes: Located in the Moon Mountain District AVA, the Monte Rosso Vineyard sits up at 1300’ elevation on the south side of Moon Mountain and looks out over the whole of Sonoma Valley. Grown on steep, Red Hill Loam soil, the vineyard has plantings dating back to the 1880s.
Winemaking Notes: Fully de-stemmed and native yeast fermented stainless steel. Aged in neutral French oak barrels with 30% new oak for 20 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
