These Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted in 2009 on one of the highest sites in Leelanau County. Their low vigor and full sun exposure provide these vines the best conditions for growing in Northern Michigan. Grapes are manually harvested and gently crushed before pressing. Neutral oak and stainless steel vessels are used for fermentation and aging. The wine is bottled in the spring to capture the fresh fruit aromas and flavors. Roughly 200 cases per vintage.

About the Name: The Laing brothers remember sunny days on the shore of Lake Michigan, sand in their hair as they clawed their way to the top of the dunes. The promise of an exhilarating descent and a plunge in the water always fueled their climb.

Sustainability: Sustainability is central to the Laings’ farming philosophy. Cover cropping has been the primary weed management strategy since 2020. Clovers and low grasses are planted under vine to suppress weeds, increase biodiversity, improve soil structure, build organic matter, and sequester carbon. Custom compost blends are developed in collaboration with Morgan Composting to promote long term soil health. The vineyards are MAEAP certified across four cropping and farmstead systems. The majority of the vineyards are dry farmed, relying on natural rainfall rather than irrigation.
