Winemaking Notes: The Cabernet Franc grapes are harvested by hand and allowed a cold maceration period before fermentation. Fermentation starts spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Extractions are very gentle, with no punch downs and only a short pump over every 1-2 days. The wine ages for 24 months (0%-30% new barrels depending on the year) in tunnels dug into the limestone hillside by previous generations. No products are used except a minimal level of SO2 prior to bottling. The wine is released after approximately 2 years in bottle.

Vineyard Notes: Les Trezellieres Saumur-Champigny is from single, mid-slope parcel of old vines with an elevated proportion of tuffeau limestone in the soils.

    The 2021 Trezellieres is sleek yet understated and would be opulent if not for a belt of citrus-like acidity that provides focus. This is refreshing and clear like mineral water, with pure blackcurrant fruit meeting a vanilla note from quality oak. Round and curvy, I love its freshness and ripeness without heaviness. Length and line are all there. This is good stuff.
