Terroir Notes: Monte Arso is an ancient volcanic cone formed around 1150 AD with a horseshoe-shaped peak rising to 1,012 meters above sea level. What makes this mountain especially distinctive is the subsoil: a red-orange substrate created by the intense heat of the lava that once engulfed it. The Barone di Villagrande estate covers 10 hectares here, with 6 hectares under vine, encircled by broom and oak trees that naturally define the property’s boundaries.
