Tasting Notes: The first thing you perceive is the scent of the volcano, flowers, fruit, and balsamic notes derive from the two years spent in the chestnut barrels. A chestnut barrel made from the estate’s forests near the vines. The feeling on the palate is surprising because the gentle tannin of the wood is associated with an unusual touch of vibrancy.

Terroir Notes: This wine comes from Contrada Villagrande and amplifies the characteristics of the Etna area: freshness, longevity, elegance. Milo is different from other areas of Etna DOC as it is much more influenced by the Mediterranean. The vines receive a constant breeze every day and all day, which keeps humidity and fears of mildew away. Huge diurnal shifts from cold mountain air naturally lower the alcohol while preserving acidity and elegance. Oak and chestnut groves surround the vineyards, creating a microclimate particularly suitable for vine growth and sustainable viticulture. The family has been formally committed to organic farming practices since 1989, well before it was in vogue.

Aging: 500-liter chestnut barrels for 24 months and one year in bottle.
