About the Wine: Winemaking can be magic when the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. That’s why Titus Vineyards created Andronicus Napa Red, a perfect red blend of the five Bordeaux varieties that together form a dynamic wine and mouthwatering value. Young vine fruit from Titus' estate vineyards forms the backbone of this vivacious wine. Bright, crisp Merlot from the Carneros Hills adds herbal cherry fruit notes and silky texture, red currant spiced Malbec from Calistoga provides aromatic lift, and Petite Verdot from the eastern foothills gives the wine a dark spice bite in the finish. It’s an ideal Napa Valley blend for both the wine connoisseur and novice alike.
Barrel Aging: 20 months
Vintage Notes: Lower than average late winter rainfall in 2022 continued drought-like conditions that encouraged bud break and an early start to the growing season. A sunny and warm spring encouraged early canopy growth and flowering on schedule, which made for a balanced berry set and a good sized crop across all varieties. Summer conditions were nearly idyllic; June and July were warm without being overly hot. That proceeded into veraison in late July and early August.
Tasting Notes: The 2022 Andronicus Napa Red is a round and welcoming wine that embodies the spirit of a classic Bordeaux blend. The wine is ruby in color with charming aromas of cherry, plum, coffee, rose, oolong tea, and bay leaf. The polished, smooth entry gives the wine depth through the palate on tannins that are pleasant and not overwhelming. Chocolate, coffee, and integrating herbs meld with red cherry and pomegranate leading to a juicy finish.
