The 2008 Barbaresco Riserva Quindicianni is another rich, imposing wine from Baricchi. Black fruit, leather, licorice, smoke, menthol and incense are all amplified in this potent, brooding wine. Here, too, readers will have to be patient. Alternatively, the 2008 needs a ton of air. It's a big wine that will thrill readers with classically leaning palates. I love it all three time I tasted it.

A mature Barbaresco, this is bursting with complex aromas and flavors of peony, cherry pâte de fruit, kirsch, woodsy underbrush and mineral. Still fresh and well-defined, with terrific balance and a lengthy aftertaste. Enjoyable now, but there's no rush. Drink now through 2032.

The 2008 Barbaresco Riserva takes on exceptional freshness and focus for its age, with a bright ruby color and notes of raspberry coulis, candied roses, dusty earth, and fresh herbs. Retaining incredible energy and focused tension, this wine is phenomenal, with harmony and balance through its long finish, and there’s no sign of this slowing down anytime soon. Drink it over the next 10 years or more.
