    A new wine in this range, the 2021 Barbaresco Marcorino is powerful and tightly clenched, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. Dried herbs, minerals, crushed rocks and slate confer notable savory/mineral complexity. Brisk tannins and beams of tannin give the Marcorino notable energy and drive. All this needs is time to soften, as it is pretty austere today. It's a terrific debut from bothers Riccardo and Davide Sobrino.

    Here's an exciting new addition to the Cascina delle Rose portfolio. The 2021 Barbaresco Marcorino comes from a newly acquired parcel with vines planted in 1944. Wines from the Marcorino MGA in Neive are a rarity. This pretty expression shows medium-dark fruit concentration with floral essences of lilac and rose. Careful oak aging in Slavonian and Swiss casks lasting 24 months has given the wine complexity and depth. Production is tiny, with 1,800 bottles created.
