Terroir Notes: The Muscat grapes for the Rogue Vine Jamon Jamon orange wine come from a 5-acre organic and dry farmed vineyard planted in 1960 in Guarilihue (pronounced GWAR-ee-lee-way) in the Itata region. Guarilihue is known for its many old vines of Cinsault and Moscatel.
Winemaking Notes: The Muscat underwent extended maceration with its skins. Maceration and spontaneous fermentation with native yeast lasted two months. The wine aged in old barriques and concrete orbs until bottling. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered. The addition of sulfites is dependent upon vintage; little to no SO2 is added prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes: The nose shows orange peel, white flowers, peach, and orange blossom with savory undertones of sage and toasted almonds. The palate shows notes of quince and marzipan with honeysuckle and a hint of black pepper spice. The finish is held long by the bright acid of the wine.
