96pts (2022 Vintage) Vinous 10/31/2024
"The 2022 Chardonnay Convicciones was sourced from La Cautiva, a location at the climatic edge for vine growing in the Uco Valley. Aged for up to two years in barrels and foudres, this yellow-gold wine reveals aromas of oak, orange, pear and enticing wild herbs. Dry, lean and compact, it offers a pleasing contrast between the plush texture from the oak and the wine's chalky core, creating a balanced, velvety palate. This is a delicious high-altitude white."

For Convicciones, Michelini i Mufatto selects grapes from a vineyard at about 1,600 meters above sea level, in the area known as La Cautiva, towards the western end of Gualtallary, in the Uco Valley. These are 11-year-old vineyards that the winery buys from a local producer to make this very special Chardonnay, with a long aging of 15 months with its lees in barrels, which has given it a sort of lactic aroma and an intense golden color. The palate is large, intense, with many fruit flavors combined with juicy acidity, highlighting the fruity character in this wine that needs at least a couple of years to gain complexity in the bottle.
