Winemaking Notes: This wine is produced exclusively from Catarratto grapes grown on the Il Censo estate outside of Palazzo Adriano. The vineyards are farmed organically, and grapes are harvested manually. The grapes maintain contact with the skins for two to three weeks with the length of the maceration depending on the vintage. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeast and without temperature control. The wine remains on its fine lees until bottled unfined and unfiltered. A small addition of sulfites is used only when necessary during aging and at bottling and changes vintage to vintage.

Tasting Notes: Praruar (meaning "golden" in the once locally spoken Greek and Albanian) is categorized as an orange wine. The nose includes aromas of the local volcanic subsoil, nuts, fennel, orange peel, apricot, herbs with slight saltiness, and iron. The palate is similar in flavor and wonderful grip/tannin that balances nicely with the acidity. The finish is boasting with flavor.

Fun Fact: Catarratto is Sicily's most widely planted grape variety, primarily found in the provinces of Agrigento, Trapani, and Palermo.

A deep, cloudy orange color in the glass, the 2020 Catarrato Praruar opens with an airy blend of dried apricots, crushed apples and ground ginger. It's soft-textured and round, with ripe orchard fruits and a cascade of liquid inner florals that coats the palate with youthful tension. The 2020 tapers off wonderfully fresh, tactile and firm, leaving the mouth watering as hints of candied citrus and sour melon resolve on the close. This is a fantastic vintage of Praruar that can be easily enjoyed by fans of orange wines.
