Winemaking Notes: The wine is racked four times over the two-year period it is aged in casks. It is then allowed to age in the bottle for at least one year and a half before being put on the market.

Tasting Notes: Bodegas Hermanos Peciña Crianza stands out for its pleasant fruit combined with light oxidation of the barrel, which contributes with agreeable notes of vanilla and tobacco, while underscoring very satisfying tannins that contribute structure. Its long finish invites one to continue enjoying it. The cherry-red color and slightly orange rim point to its stay in barrels, although not enough to denote oxidation, making it a very well-balanced wine.

About Hermanos Pecina: The former vineyard manager for La Rioja Alta, Pedro Peciña started this estate in 1992, and started producing aged wines with the 1996 vintage. From the start, the estate has worked their vineyards as naturally as possible, and has championed traditional winemaking with extended aging in used American oak barrels and regular rackings every 6 months. Pedro is preserving the diversity of the old vineyards, keeping varieties that others are ripping out.
