Vineyard Notes: A single vineyard planted in 1999 - 2000 from heirloom cuttings. The soils are a complex mosaic of sand, slate and iron-rich clay, planted to a historic blend of Mencia, Zamarrica, Bastardo, Caino Redondo, and Brancellao.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes are de-stemmed and co-fermented in concrete tanks. Macerations can exceed 2 months with minimal working. After pressing, the juice settles in stainless steel for 6 months before transfer to old French foudre and used 500L barrels.

"I love the elegant, complex and subtle nose of the 2018 Quinta da Muradella Tinto, produced with 23-year-old vines planted on three different soils: sand, slate and clay with lots of iron. It has a sense of purity and balance that is touching. There is a sense of innocence and simplicity that is difficult to achieve. It's subtle and balanced, with very fine tannins and a beautiful mouthfeel. It's a co-fermentation of Mencía, Zamarrica, Bastardo, Caíño Redondo and Albarello fermented de-stemmed in concrete with a soft extraction and a long maceration. The wine decanted in stainless steel for six months and then matured in foudre and one 500-liter barrel. 3,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2021." - Luis Gutierrez

"The 2018 Tinto Muradella combines Caino, Bastardo, Mencia and Espadeiro. Sourced from the small DO Monterrei in Galicia, it was fermented in steel, concrete and wood, where it then spent up to 13 months. Garnet in hue, it reveals herbal and earthy notes atop a layer of spice and red apple peel. Warm and lean, a heightened sense of VA sets the tone on the palate."- Joaquin Hidalgo
