Taft Street 2022 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

Vintage Notes: Despite an early February bud break, the county faced a relatively mild growing season. The warm autumn weather made for excellent phenolic ripeness, with harvest starting slightly earlier than previous averages. Both berries and clusters were smaller, signaling wines of concentration.

Vineyard Notes: This wine features two well known Russian River Valley vineyards for this wine: Hopkins River Ranches on Eastside Road; and Balletto's Spiderweb Ranch on Guernveille Road.

Winemaking Notes: Two different yeast strains were used to create more complex flavors with 50% of the Chardonnay barrel fermented in Damy French Oak barrels. 50% of the blend underwent malolactic fermentation.

Tasting Notes: Meyer lemon preserves and grapefruit notes emerge from this energetic vintage. Medium bodied with a solid sense of minerality, this chardonnay opens up to layers of bright stone fruit and apple with great freshness and length.
