Fruit Source: 10 hectares in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly; This expression of Chouilly defines AR Lenoble. Chouilly is one of only 17 Grand Cru villages in Champagne and one of only 6 known for Chardonnay. AR Lenoble is one of few producers to use 100% estate-owned Grand Cru Chardonnay in every single one of their wines.

Farming: The yields at AR Lenoble are significantly lower than the average yields in Champagne, year after year. They let the grass grow in their vineyards in order to reduce yields on purpose. Biodiversity is an extremely important part of their philosophy. Hedgerows are planted to stabilize the soils. The vineyards are also home to a cluster of beehives from which the they make a limited amount of honey each year.

Wine Notes: AR Lenoble uses exclusively the juice from the first pressing to craft their wines. They never use second pressings, instead selling it to other producers in the region. The complex system of conservation of their reserve wines is a top priority. Established along the lines of the solera or “perpetual blending” system, their reserve wines have been conserved in either small 225-liter Burgundy barrels or 5,000-liter foudres since 2001. Since 2010, they also keep a tremendous amount of reserve wines aging in magnums under natural cork in order to preserve freshness, a major challenge moving forward in the face of climate change. All AR Lenoble NV Champagnes are released after at least 3 years of aging in the cellars.
