Vineyard Notes: Grapes come from 6 hectares of organically farmed, granitic vineyards planted between 1919-1969. The vineyards contain a field blend of about 20 indigenous varities, including Jean, Baga, Tinta Amarela and Negro Mouro. 

Winemaking Notes: Harvest is by hand. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in open vats. The pressed grapes age in used French oak where malolactic fermentation occurs naturally. The wine ages for 18 months in used French oak and 3 months in stainless steel. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered and with very minimal SO2 added at the time of bottling.

Tasting Notes: The Vinhas Velhas Tinto is elegant and minerality with balanced acidity. On the palate, you can expect flavors of dark fruits, spices, and herbal notes, with a persistent finish.
