About Michi's Farm: There are many small grower families in Weinviertel working their lands organically and living a sustainable life. Gindl’s new project Michi’s Farm is a way to showcase and celebrate these growers. Michael buys his neighbors’ certified organic fruit at fair market prices with the aim to make delicious and affordable natural wines that shed light on the villages and people of the region. Included in the mix is a small piece of land from his wife Teresa and her family in Staatz, about 30 minutes North of Hohenruppersdorf to the mix.
“These vineyards have been farmed organically longer than mine, and it is such a joy to shed light on these lesser appreciated villages of our region, where the wines also take a more floral and aromatic quality compared to my own vineyards.” - Michael Gindl
Tasting Notes: tropical side of orange. zippy, salty and fresh. tangerine mint salad
Winemaking Notes: Fermentation for Michi's Farm takes place spontaneously in stainless steel as well as some old wooden barrels, depending on the cuvée. The white gets racked once directly after fermentation, so only ages on the fine lees. This creates a white that is a bit fruitier than the more serious Gindl wines, which age on full lees. It is bottled in the spring after harvest without fining or filtering.
