Winemaking Notes: The fruit for this wine comes from a selection of old vines from two vineyards: Haux and Sainte-Marie. Winemaking is divided per parcels. The wine ferments for 3 to 5 weeks in stainless steel tanks for a soft extraction of the tannins. Wine is aged in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new.

Tasting Notes: This wine has a deep crimson color with shades of purple. Aromas consist of small, concentrated red berries with delicate hints of spice. This wine is powerful, nicely structured and will soften with time. Aging potential is 3 to 10 years.

90pts (2020 Vintage) Vinous 2/23/2023
"The 2020 Sainte-Marie Vieilles Vignes is a very pretty and expressive Bordeaux Superieur. Sweet floral notes meld into crushed red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, spice, mint and blood orange. This deceptively mid-weight, almost transparent red has a ton of character. It will appeal most to readers who appreciate understated reds."

The 2019 Sainte-Marie Vieilles Vignes is an attractive, hearty Bordeaux Superieur to drink now and over the next handful of years. Expressive savory and gravel accents complement a core of exuberant dark fruit. Herbs, pepper, graphite and cured meats give this potent 2019 plenty of nuance. There is plenty to like.
