Oenos Mittas 2023 Xinomavro, Naoussa PDO Login — In Stock

Oenos Mittas is a young Naoussa estate with old roots. Yiannis Mittas is the first generation of his family to make and bottle wine, but the family has been involved in the local wine trade for generations. After four years at Domaine Dalamara, Yiannis struck out on his own, launching Oenos Mittas with the 2019 vintage of Naoussa. The winery itself is a converted mountain-bike shop just outside town—an appropriate scale for a tiny, hands-on operation.

The estate’s 1.8 hectares are in Pailokalias, one of Naoussa’s top vineyard sites, with vines averaging around 25 years and the oldest dating to 1971. Yiannis farms organically and keeps the cellar traditional: native fermentations, manual punchdowns and 500-liter French oak. The wines are savory, high-acid and firmly tannic, favoring the old-school structure of Xinomavro over the softer, fruitier style increasingly seen in the region.

This is an ancient, rugged terroir with a young winemaker as its steward. Alongside the Naoussa, Yiannis is experimenting with other varieties and small-production wines, including Assyrtiko. Oenos Mittas is still tiny, but the combination of serious vineyard material, old-school instincts and youthful energy makes it one to watch.
