Clos du Caillou is one of the benchmark estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the southern Rhône. Founded in 1895 and located in Courthézon, the estate farms more than 130 hectares organically across Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône, and Vin de France. Despite its name, part of the property lies just outside the Châteauneuf appellation after the historic boundary was drawn around the estate's hunting reserve, creating a unique opportunity to produce exceptional wines from neighboring terroirs.

Today, the Pouizin family and winemaker Bruno Gaspard focus on expressing the character of old vines rooted in the region's classic galets roulés, sandy soils, and limestone. Grenache is the heart of the estate, supported by Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Clairette, Roussanne, and other traditional Rhône varieties. Farming is certified organic, harvest is entirely by hand, and winemaking favors native yeasts, gentle extraction, and aging tailored to each cuvée in concrete tanks, large foudres, and neutral oak.

The wines combine the generosity and depth expected from the southern Rhône with remarkable freshness, precision, and site transparency, making Clos du Caillou one of the region's most respected and age-worthy producers.
