Domaine de la Renardière is nestled in the picturesque commune of Pupillin—the "Capital of Ploussard"—and is renowned for its expressive and refined wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Jura.
Established in 1990 by Jean-Michel Petit and his wife Laurence, the estate spans 7.5 hectares of vineyards, evenly divided between red varieties (Pinot Noir, Poulsard, Trousseau) and white varieties (primarily Chardonnay, with a touch of Savagnin). Jean-Michel, born and raised in Pupillin, grew up in a family with a long history of viticulture. Inspired by his deep connection to the land, he returned to the village after studying viticulture in Beaune and gaining international winemaking experience. Laurence, who refined her skills working with Jura legends Pierre Overnoy and Pascal Clairet of Domaine de la Tournelle, brings valuable expertise to the domaine, solidifying its reputation as a cornerstone of Jura winemaking.
Starting with his family's 2 hectares of vines, Jean-Michel and Laurence gradually expanded the estate by acquiring parcels across Pupillin's diverse soils. Since 2003, Domaine de la Renardière has been farmed organically, achieving full certification in 2012. Jean-Michel also integrates biodynamic practices, such as using preparations 500 and 501 on select plots. In the cellar, he employs traditional, low-intervention methods, utilizing native yeast fermentation and adding sulfites only when absolutely necessary. Reds are aged in foudres, while whites mature in a combination of older barriques and foudres, resulting in vibrant, terroir-driven wines that reflect both the land and the family's dedication to their craft.
