Winemaking legends and married couple Bo & Heidi Barrett have teamed up to create one special wine from one special place - Barrett & Barrett. Each brings decades of fine winemaking expertise to this partnership, creating a stunning Cabernet Sauvignon from their Calistoga - Napa Valley vineyards.

Barrett & Barrett was founded in 2008 by the husband-and-wife winemaking team of Bo & Heidi Barrett as their first collaborative wine, following parallel careers of more than 30 years in the wine industry. A single wine from a single property, Barrett & Barrett Calistoga Estate Cabernet Sauvignon represents Bo's wine growing experience gained over decades farming Chateau Montelena's vineyards in the Calistoga AVA (which he helped to gain official AVA status in 2010), and Heidi's expertise in crafting the finest "cult cabs" of Napa Valley (including Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, Grace Family, her own brand La Sirena, and numerous others).

    After swooning over the 2018 version, I was entirely prepared to fall in love with the Barretts's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. Scents of loamy earth, vanilla and black cherries appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is supple, almost creamy, then rich, long and velvety on the finish. Somehow, it wasn't as exciting as I was anticipating, but that's what happens sometimes when expectations are high. It's still an excellent wine I'd be very happy to drink.

    Aromas of ripe dark berries, spiced cedar, ground spices, sea shell and cigar box. Full and creamy with velvety tannin structure and succulent dark fruit in the middle. Lingering finish

    The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon brings a touch more intensity, with beautiful black fruits, black olive, iron, and cedar pencil aromatics. It's concentrated, medium to full-bodied, and has riveting purity and precision, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It's one seriously brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon that readers can drink today or cellar for 2+ decades.
